Avoid These Common Mistakes To Excel At Gym
Whether a newbie or a gym freak returning after a long break, people tend to make some common mistakes while they work out, which stops them from being successful on their fitness journey. I made mistakes too when I first joined the Beach Fit – a great 45 gym in Bondi Beach. But I was corrected by my trainers. We are humans, and it’s common for us to make mistakes, but the most important thing is learning from them and not repeating.
Doing exercises in the wrong way doesn’t accomplish anything. Some mistakes can be minor, but some lead to huge setbacks in terms of gains.
Here is the most common mistake people make over and over again that you need to avoid to achieve your fitness goal:
Improper Planning
The gym can be an intimidating place, especially if you are new. One of the biggest mistake people make is heading to the gym without any planning.
Don’t just pack your bags and rush to the gym. Plan your workout to achieve your end goal rather than hopping from one machine to another.
A routine that lacks direction doesn’t take you anywhere. Before you leave your home, prepare a prewritten program for yourself. Just a few alterations can change your results.
Repeating the same workout every day
Planning is important, but following the same routine, every day is harmful. Repetition is another huge mistake people usually make.
Going through the same routine every single time will bore you very quickly. Your workout routine should change every few weeks by alternating the exercises you do. Small changes like sets, reps, and rest times also works.
Neglects Nutrition
One myth about exercising is people think as long as they exercise it doesn’t matter what they eat. All they have to do is more workout to lose weight.
Eating nutritious food is very important to be fit. We are what we eat; food plays an important role in day to day functioning of our body.
Take your food seriously, eat good quality unprocessed food. Working hard won’t always work; consuming the right nutrition is essential. If you are concerned about the cost, buy food in bulk, you can get amazing offers online.
Missing Workouts
Beginners tend to skip a workout if they feel tired and lazy. They often forget consistency is the key to an amazing body.
Commit to yourself that you are going to work harder every day and honor the commitment you make to yourself.
If it’s difficult for you to work out every day, work out in alternate days or even just one day in a week but don’t ever skip it.
Not tracking anything
You randomly plan your workout, change your workout routine, eat right food but do you track your progress. What gets measured gets managed, if you don’t measure anything, how you are going to improve.
Record everything you do – be it what exercises you did, how much weight you lose, how much calories you ate, and everything else.
Measuring your body weight and clicking pictures is the best way to track the results. Your photos will motivate you to work even harder.
